Kellonkartano International Summer Camp

ICFO and Kellonkartanon ystävät ry held an international summer camp from 24-26 July at the Kellonkartano Christian Recreation Centre, Raamattuopistontie 93, Kello (12 km from Oulu!).  There was a lot of interesting programme for all kinds of people under the theme “Near the City, In the Countryside, Close to God”, and we had a wonderful time together: immigrants, refugees, locals, Christians and non-Christians etc. If you like to know about the activities, please check the poster and obtain the information relating to the programme, as well as the announcement. Please feel also free to use the documents relating to the workshop “Finding and Using Your Spiritual Gifts” (doc, pdf) and the worship service “Worship” (ppt) for individual or group work on your own and in connection with your local church! Figuratively Speaking

On Sunday 21.6.2009 we had an indoor & outdoor worship meeting. We studied Biblical nature symbols and metaphors that reveal truths about human life and faith. The idea was to gather nature items during a walk outside and then reflect and share on these inside the church building by means of Scripture – it was a very enriching experience. For example, we pondered on such items as stones, rocks, water, soil, flowers, grass etc. In the end we prayed about the truths we discovered and sang a few songs related to the topic of the worship meeting. If you’re interested in the results of this joint effort then you may download the message as a text-based pdf-file and as a more graphic concept map. Enjoy and give us some feedback! (BF)

BBQ

Come and celebrate the beautiful summer God has given us by coming along to the Peedo residence on Saturday, 6.6.2009 from 14.00 onwards for a potluck BBQ. Bring along your family and friends! “Potluck” means to bring along food that is put on the table and shared between everyone. We will have the “grilli” turned on so you can bring some meat; also you may like to provide a bit of a salad/side dish for the meat, drink and/or something for dessert. This way we get to taste a bit of everyone’s specialties and make sure there will be enough food for everyone. Those people who wish to ride their bikes over may meet at St. Luke’s Chapel at 13.30 and can follow Bastian over… Our address is: Kylmäsentie 3, Länsi-Patela. If you catch the bus, catch number 20 or 1 and get off at “Kuivasojan koulu”. Our house is not far at all from the bus stop…you can always call when you arrive and I can come and show you where to come when you get off the bus (Marja Peedo, phone: 040 7078816, email: marja.peedo@ope.ouka.fi). Welcome and hope to see you… Pray for sunny weather…as well as good fellowship, we have some outdoor games we can play and a popular trampoline. (MP)
